Mustafa: LDK is a school for everyone and it will emerge triumphant

The Democratic League of Kosovo “is a school”, not solely for the parties in Kosovo, but for all parties in the Western Balkans, said the Chairman of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, in a written interview for Albanian Post.

“We have run the government twice and we have proved how to govern mindfully, skillfully and without corruption. We are a school for all. Not only in Kosovo but also in the Western Balkans”, declared Mustafa.

Precisely for this “good governance”, Mustafa is assured that the LDK will be rewarded by the votes of Kosovars in the February 14 elections.

“We have had increased support and number of voters in every election. We have convincingly emerged the first in the last local elections as well”.

Mustafa does not stand behind the latest polls indicating that the LDK will be ranked third, namely after the Self-Determination Movement first and the Democratic Party of Kosovo second.

“I trust only the will of the people”, he said. He even calls the numbers presented in the polls “orchestrated campaign” – as he suspects that it is being organized by the Self-Determination Movement.

“The campaign that is taking place through polls organized by VV is dictatorial”.

Mustafa has described the transition of Vjosa Osmani – former Deputy Chairwoman of the LDK and candidate for Prime Minister of this party in the last elections – to the Self-Determination Movement as “political mercenary”, emphasizing that this does not affect the LDK voters whatsoever.

“The tendency to appropriate LDK voters for these purposes (receiving votes from the LDK) is political mercenary”.

“Voters and supporters of LDK do not fall prey to mercenaries who have been included in the VV list. They are much smarter and loyal”, says the former Prime Minister of Kosovo for Albanian Post.

The LDK, which in the extraordinary elections of February 14 is running on the same list with the New Kosovo Alliance, the party of Behgjet Pacolli, has presented Avdullah Hoti as a candidate for Prime Minister.

Mustafa is pleased with Hoti. He estimates that he is developing the campaign well and is competing with a program “in the capacity of the future Prime Minister of Kosovo”.

In contrast to the LDK, which is unveiling a governing program, the Self-Determination Movement is competing for purposes other than just governing, according to Mustafa.

“Those who aim at everything lead us to the collapse of the state and democracy. They strive to take over the whole state, but the citizens do not grant anyone a monopoly and dictatorship”.

In addition to the Prime Minister and the Government, the next legislature will have to elect a new President. The LDK, unlike most of the main parties, has not yet mentioned anyone as a candidate from their ranks.

Notwithstanding that Mustafa says that the LDK has more than only one candidate, he did not mention any name in particular.

“We intend to lead the government. We have far better presidential candidates than those mentioned by other entities”.

Mustafa has also spoken about his position in the party, although he considers that this does not constitute an important topic despite the rumors that have challenged his position at the head of the LDK.

“We finished the party elections in August 2019”, he declares, implying that there is no rotation of power any sooner at the head of the LDK.

“I notice the tendency that circles that have nothing to do with the LDK are shedding tears for the LDK leadership. The more I see such tendencies, the more I am convinced that we have good leadership, not a hybrid leadership, but the original LDK”.
