During the protest held by the activists of the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater, four of the activists were arrested and escorted to the police station.
Astrit Seranaj, Ergys Mërtiri, Gentian Hasani and Donald Martini were arrested during this protest.
Activists said they were escorted to the police station because they had been filming at the construction site of the National Theater.
They further stated that they had been beaten by police officers.
“I have seen people beaten in police stations and this is a shame. They use other forms of pressure by threating us that we will be prosecuted because of not wearing a mask “, said Ergys Mërtiri, a well-known analyst.
The other activist, Mr. Seranaj said that two days ago the police officers did not allow him to go to the pedestrian area, where he meets his friends every day.
Seranaj also emphasized the violence against him and his colleagues.
“Me and Donald Martini were beaten inside the police station,” said Seranaj.
This protest comes a day after the appointment of the new Minister of Interior Affairs, Bledi Çuçi.
He was appointed after the resignation of his predecessor, Sander Lleshaj.
The resignation came after violent protests took place in various cities of the country regarding the murder of Klodian Rasha by a police officer.
